Child-Adult Resource Services, Incorporated is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing services for children, families and adults who have a variety of support, education and rehabilitation needs.  C.A.R.S. provides services in 11 counties in West Central Indiana:  Clay, fountain, Hendricks, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren.  CARS started providing services to individuals, families and the community in 1969. Its valuable mission statement still guides the agency today...

To empower by developing community based options and opportunities that will benefit individuals, families, and the community-at-large.

CARS utilized both state and federal funding, in addition to self-generated funding through private enterprise and contributions.  It is most important to note that since 1969, CARS has more than doubled its service area, and the number of people it directly serves has increased by more than 400%.  In a similar comparison, CARS's entire 1969 annual budget is now spent in one month.  All of these comparisons translate into thousands of individual/family lives that have been touched by CARS; thousands have benefited from the efforts of hundreds of staff and volunteers.
